PASTOR MELVIN BROOKS' BIOGRAPHY

Pastor Melvin Brooks was born on August 24, 1954, in the Delta of Mississippi. It was in the state of Mississippi that he received his elementary education. As a small child it was quite evident to him and others that he would someday be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After the death of his father, his mother thought it was best for the family to relocate to Chicago, Illinois to join other family members.

Pastor Brooks is a 1972 graduate of the George Westinghouse Area Vocational High School in Chicago. He has credentials from Northeastern University, Moody Bible Institute and New Life  Bible College. He received his Masters of Religion in 2000, from the Tennessee School of Religion. He received an additional Master in Pastoral Ministries from Chelsea University in 2004. In August of 2016, Pastor Brooks completed a degree in Community and Human Services at Empire State College, and recently obtained a degree in Business Management and Economics, with a concentration in Organizational Leadership.  Ordained as a Deacon at the young age of 16, Pastor Brooks knew that God had a special calling on his life. In February of 1975, after much prayer, he adhered to the call of preaching God’s Word. In the year 1980, on his 26th birthday, he organized and pastored the Center of Love Baptist Church in Chicago. Pastor Brooks remained steadfast and faithful there for twenty years. After having learned many valuable lessons about life and ministry, and also feeling the inner nudge of the Holy Spirit, his experience at the Center of Love prepared him for further elevation.

In February of 2000, Pastor Brooks in his obedience to God, relocated to Buffalo, New York where he accepted the call to pastor the Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Brooks tore down and rebuilt a church within a church that had been in existence for forty-five years. Under his leadership, numerous accomplishments were made. Many of the members had life-changing experiences. These experiences led to an addition to the name of the church now known as “The New Cedar Grove Life Changing Church”. Under Pastor Brooks’ leadership, his Bible-based teaching made a tremendous difference in the church flourishing financially, and the members developed a never-ending thirst for the Word of God. Through his own personal testimony of being healed, he was instrumental in teaching members about trusting and believing God’s Word.  In November of 2010, the church purchased a six acre campus in a nearby suburb, Cheektowaga. The campus was equipped with several amenities which enhanced the vision and dream of Pastor Brooks.

Pastor Brooks has been pastoring for thirty-six years.  He has also served as a National Evangelist for over thirty years, former 3rd Vice Moderator of the New Fellowship District Association and 3rd Vice of Westside Ministers Fellowship in Chicago.
Pastor Brooks has been married for thirty-four years to Dorise Brooks.  He is also a father, and grandfather.  His favorite scripture is Galatians 6:9, ”Be not weary in well doing for in due season you will reap if you faint not.”
In December 2017, the Fairfield Baptist Church, Lithonia, Georgia called Pastor Melvin Brooks as their sixth spiritual leader.
